| DAVID is designed for control applications. It is based on a powerful floating point DSP and includes the following interfaces : Analog to Digital and Digital to Analog converters, FPGA based programmable interface, binary I/O, RS232.
The Analog to Digital interface comprises 14 individual fast A/D converters (700ns). The conversion process can be triggered in various ways depending on the application, e. g. conversion synchronized with the modulation. The FPGA is a kind of versatile digital interface, where various functions can be implemented, e. g. 3 phased synchronised or shifted PWM modulators, space vector modulation, encoder interface, simple digital port, ... The communication with a PC is realized through a UART interface (RS232). This communication is mainly used during the development of the application (downloading, debugging, acquisition). The FLASH memory contains the DSP programs as well as the FPGA program. Both these programs can be easily downloaded from the PC with the IDE. The use of all the DAVID interfaces is very simple using the routines of the standard library provided. Therefore the user has not to bother with low level assembler programming. Most applications can be implemented with the standard environment provided by CHS Engineering. |
